Find replacement part options for a broken washing machine

For a stand-in Whirlpool washer the agent found the right lid lock (W11307244) and 3 live options ($32.99 aftermarket to $113.65 genuine); a 4th was only in search results, and the cheapest result was refurbished and out of stock.

What was claimed

'Grok Bot helped me find a part for my parents broken washing machine tonight. I literally just took a screen shot from the text with my dad and told it what washing machine it was for and it found me 4 options for Genuine and aftermarket replacements.'

What we found

Right part: lid lock assembly W11307244 (it replaces the original W10682535). Three options confirmed live: genuine Whirlpool at AppliancePartsPros $102.78 and Sears PartsDirect $113.65 (both in stock, both on their WTW4816FW0 model pages), and an aftermarket ERP version at Ben's Appliances $32.99 on sale (regular $84.95, in stock, lists WTW4816FW0-FW3). We could not confirm a 4th: Home Depot ($20.99 ERP), Edgewater ($32.95) and whirlpoolparts.com ($115.46 genuine) appeared only in search results because their pages blocked us. The cheapest search result, ShopJimmy $19.99, is refurbished and out of stock on the live page.

How we checked it

Live model and product pages fetched 09:13-09:14 UTC+8 (prices and stock from each page's schema.org data and visible text). Fit from the shops' own model pages; not confirmed with Whirlpool directly (its parts site returned 403).

What the agent did

  1. Web search: part W11307244 (replaces W10682535 and others)
  2. AppliancePartsPros WTW4816FW0 model page: 200
  3. Sears PartsDirect model + product page: 200
  4. Ben's Appliances (aftermarket): 200
  5. ShopJimmy: 200, but refurbished and out of stock
  6. whirlpoolparts.com, RepairClinic, PartSelect, Home Depot: 403
  7. Amazon: 503
  8. Edgewater Parts: bot challenge

Sites and APIs touched: appliancepartspros.com, searspartsdirect.com, bens-appliances.com, shopjimmy.com, whirlpoolparts.com, repairclinic.com, partselect.com, homedepot.com, amazon.com, edgewaterparts.com.

Where it went wrong

  • 6 of 10 shops blocked or challenged the bot.
  • The cheapest search-result price ($19.99) was a refurbished, out-of-stock listing.
  • Close model numbers can take different parts; the shops say to match the full model number (e.g. WTW4816FW0 vs FW2).

Try it yourself

Exact prompt we used
My parents' Whirlpool WTW4816FW top-load washer says the lid won't lock. Find 4 replacement lid lock options, genuine and aftermarket, with part number, price, and a link that says it fits this model.

Lowest-access way to try it

L0. Give the full model number from the label, ask for the part number, and a link per option to a page that lists your model. Check new vs refurbished before you buy.

Method
The post names neither the washer nor the part, so we used a stand-in: a Whirlpool WTW4816FW top-loader whose lid will not lock. Web search for the part number, then fetched each shop's model page and product page and read price, stock and fit from the page and its structured data.
