How we checked it

Each provider's own pricing or help page, saved as page text and screenshot on 2026-10-23; for every plan, the exact price text had to be in the saved page (19/19). Prices are what a US-English browser saw from our server, before tax.

What the agent did

1. curl: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok pages 200; Perplexity, Midjourney docs and openai.com 403
2. Headless Chrome: all of them loaded
3. 19 paid plans recorded with the exact text each price came from: 19 of 19 found in the saved pages
4. Perplexity's page shows only 'billed annually' prices; no monthly price on any official page we could load
5. Built ai_subscriptions.html; clicked price header twice and service header once: sorted correctly each time

Sites and APIs touched: chatgpt.com, claude.com, gemini.google, perplexity.ai, docs.midjourney.com, grok.com, x.ai.

Where it went wrong

• Perplexity's pricing page shows only annual-billing prices, so its monthly price is missing.
• Three official pages (Perplexity, Midjourney's docs, openai.com) refused a plain fetch (403); a headless browser was needed.
• 'Includes writing/coding' says nothing about limits: the $4.99 Google plan is a light tier.
• Grok's plan names differ between pages (x.ai still says SuperGrok; grok.com lists Plus/Premium/Super/Ultra, with first-month discounts).
• The weekly recheck was not scheduled; prices change often.

Method

Read paid consumer plans for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini (Google AI plans), Perplexity, Midjourney and Grok from each provider's own page only, saved every page, and built one HTML page with a sortable table and a cheapest pick per use (cheapest plan whose own card lists that use). Every price was checked against the saved page text and sorting was tested by clicking the headers.
