What was claimed

'There's an official Grok Bot template marketplace, and GitHub is filling up with free community setups. 7 worth opening ... grok-bot-templates: 49 templates with teams, skills and routines, per the author ... All community-made and brand new, not from xAI.'

What we found

Held up. All 7 repos exist, are public and do what the post says (opt-out filing, phone table booking after approval, split spec/build/verify bot profiles, a status board with a separate checker, a template kit, org charts, and a Hyperliquid desk that needs approval before trades). grok-bot-templates has exactly 49 templates. x.ai/bot/marketplace is a real, official template marketplace. One soft spot: the repos were created between Aug 16 and Sep 22, so brand new was 1-2 months old by the Oct 25 post.

Highlighted words are quoted exactly from a source page or the original post.

How we checked it

GitHub API JSON, READMEs, git tree and catalog.json, plus the x.ai marketplace page, saved under runs/2026-10-28/grok-bot-templates-seven-check/. Answer key written before the run.

  6. Created dates 2026-08-16 to 2026-09-22

Sites and APIs touched: github.com, api.github.com, cobusgreyling.github.io, x.ai.

Where it went wrong

  • 'Brand new' is loose: repos are 1-2 months old.
  • We checked that each repo exists and its README matches; we did not install or run any of them.

Try it yourself

Exact prompt we used
Open the 7 GitHub repos linked in this post. For each, check that it exists, is public, and that its README does what the post says. Count the templates in grok-bot-templates. Check whether an official Grok Bot template marketplace exists on x.ai.

Lowest-access way to try it

L0. Ask the agent to resolve every link, read each README via the GitHub API, and count templates from the repo itself rather than trusting the post. Read a repo before you connect any account to it.
