What was claimed
'I was trying to find an old post from @mattyp where he said something like Grok Bot can do everything a human can do on X ... I asked Grok Bot to find the post from the last 2-3 months. It found two matching posts with links, dates, exact quotes and engagement numbers'
@Napoleon__Bon on X. Original post
What we found
Held up. Two of @mattyp's posts from the last three months fit: a September 10 video post (@Bot can do anything you can) and an August 11 reply (can do anything you can on a computer). We got the link, date, exact text and engagement for both, and Grok Bot's answer in the poster's screenshot matches our first post, date and numbers. Neither post actually says everything a human can do on X, so searching the remembered words alone found nothing.
Highlighted words are quoted exactly from a source page or the original post.
How we checked it
X API search and lookup results and the poster's screenshot saved under runs/2026-10-30/find-old-x-post-from-memory/. Answer key written before the run.
What the agent did
- Searches with the remembered words ('everything', 'human', 'on X') found nothing close
- Searching 'anything you can' found 2 matches
- Sep 10, 2026 (21:04 UTC): 'Giving Grok Bot a Phone' video post ending '@Bot can do anything you can - this is one way to make calls': 920,066 views, 5,698 likes
- Aug 11, 2026: reply saying 'Grok Bot is a general purpose agent that can do anything you can on a computer': 19,150 views, 140 likes
- The poster's screenshot of Grok Bot's answer gives the same first post, date and numbers
Sites and APIs touched: x.com (X API).
Where it went wrong
- The remembered wording was wrong; exact-phrase searches missed both posts until we loosened the words.
- We only saw the first match in the poster's screenshot, not Grok Bot's second one.
Try it yourself
Find the post from @mattyp in the last 2-3 months where he said something like 'Grok Bot can do everything a human can do on X'. Give me links, dates, exact quotes and engagement numbers.
Lowest-access way to try it
L0. Give the agent the account, a rough time window and the gist, and ask it to try several wordings and return links with dates and the exact quote so you can check it is the post you meant.
