What we found
Held up. GitHub's changelog (Oct 28, 2026) says Copilot Fusion is generally available with Standard, High and Max effort levels. Artificial Analysis' data shows 59.9 vs 61.7 on the Coding Agent Index at $5.59 vs $11.42 per task, about half the tokens and 41% less time. Octoverse says more than 40% of pull requests started with an agent in September, up from 17% in March. These are benchmark API costs, not what a Copilot or Claude subscription costs, and Fusion trails on FrontierCode (51 vs 56).
How we checked it

Where it went wrong
- Benchmark cost per task is not your subscription bill.
- Close overall score hides weaker spots (FrontierCode 51 vs 56).
Try it yourself
Check against GitHub's own posts and Artificial Analysis: is Copilot Fusion generally available, what effort levels does it have, its Coding Agent Index score and cost per task vs Claude Code + Opus 5.5, and the Octoverse agent pull-request share.
Lowest-access way to try it
L0. Ask the agent for the vendor's own announcement and the benchmark's data page, and to say which numbers are vendor claims and which were measured independently.
